TEST LESSONS 1 AND 2

1. Translate the following text into Catalan:

Today, if we just want to browse the web, we can do almost everything with one program - a web browser. A browser is one kind of 'net interface'. Net interfaces are programs which sit between you and the internet and help you and the Net make sense to each other. The browser takes care of the technical details of connecting you to the web, and makes sure that the information from the internet arrives in a way that makes sense to you. It also finds out what you want to do, and passes on the information in a way that the internet can understand.

Websites are built in different ways. Pages that contain a lot of information but are not very interactive are called 'static' pages. These are usually written in a language called HTML (HyperText Markup Language). Interactive pages can be written in VBS (Visual Basic Script) or in JavaScript. Because it can be dangerous to run unknown programs, many interactive websites today use interactive scripts that don't run on your computer. These scripts often use a language developed for Personal Home Pages (php)

Avui, si nosaltres només vulem navegador el web, nosaltres podem fer totes les coses amb una programma - navegador. el navegador es un part de interface. el net interfaces son les perogrames que son tu i l'internet .. El navegador mira endavant sobre tecnoligia detallats de connections en el web i miren be indormació de l'internet .. També es busca El que vols buscar i et passa informacio que pudras entender....

Yesterday I searched for information on the internet, but i didn't find the answer on the exam exercise. Tomorrow i will ask the teacher.

Estic pensant en la meva pàgina web, crec que la programaré diferent, he decidit fer-la més fàcil de fer servir.

I'm thinking of my web page, i think that i will program it differently, I have decided to make it easier to use.

Steve Jobs changed the way we live, everyone uses the computer every day now and all the time. it seems that in the future we will use it a lot more.

Verbs

The Past Simple tense, also called the Simple Past, is used for past actions that happened either at a specific time, which can either be given by a time phrase (yesterday, last year, etc.) or understood from the context. Regular verbs add -ed to the base form, or -d if the verbs ends with -e. irregular verbs can change in many different ways. The verb form is the same for all persons:

eg: I liked, you liked, she/he/it liked, we liked, they liked.

NOTE: After the auxiliary verb, Did/Didn't, it returns to the base from:

eg: Did you take it?

eg: She didn't like it.

The future simple tense is often called will, because we make the future simple tense with the modal auxiliary will.

Simple Future has two different forms in English: "will" and "be going to." Although the two forms can sometimes be used interchangeably, they often express two very different meanings. These different meanings might seem too abstract at first, but with time and practice, the differences will become clear. Both "will" and "be going to" refer to a specific time in the future.

No Plan

We use the future simple tense when there is no plan or decision to do something before we speak. We make the decision spontaneously at the time of speaking. Look at these examples:
Hold on. I'll get a pen.

We will see what we can do to help you.

Maybe we'll stay in and watch television tonight.

We often use the future simple tense with the verb to think before it:

I think I'll go to the gym tomorrow.

I think I will have a holiday next year.

I don't think I'll buy that car.

Prediction
We often use the future simple tense to make a prediction about the future. Again, there is no firm plan. We are saying what we think will happen. Here are some examples:

It will rain tomorrow.
People won't go to Jupiter before the 22nd century.
Who do you think will get the job?

Be

When the main verb is be, we can use the future simple tense even if we have a firm plan or decision before speaking. Examples:

I'll be in London tomorrow.
I'm going shopping. I won't be very long.
Will you be at work tomorrow?

But in such a soccer-made nation, and with a relatively inexperienced team, the pressure of winning at home will prove too much.
